In this episode of the podcast neuroscientist, Jess Collins shares her journey to ultra trail running.  Jess has always been into sports of one type or another – she eventually found herself trail running after “running” the overland track, she’s been hooked ever since 🙂  Once Jess found trail running she also found that she was naturally good at it and has achieved a number of great results, including representing Australia!

Jess is a runner and a neuroscientist, and as a result she brings other layers of understanding to what it means to be a runner.  It was fabulous to hear her articulate some of these connections so well (i.e. helped me to nerd out on a little neuroscience :p ).

One the biggest benefits of running for Jess has been the friendships and the community that she’s developed through running.   It’s also taught her a lot about herself and helped her maintain positive mental health, as it often puts her into a mediative thinking space.

I’m sure you’ll love the obvious enthusiasm Jess has for her running!
