In this episode of the podcast, running coach, mum, teacher and podcaster, Isobel Ross shares some of her inspiring running journey – from preferring books to running when she was a kid, to representing Australia multiple times in long distance events across the globe (including the elusive Barkley Marathons) – she is a force to be reckoned with.
However running isn’t the only sport she was good at – in her early 20s Isobel was pretty competitive in mountain biking but gave it up after a nasty fall. Then in her mid 30’s (after 10 years of relative inactivity) she decided to make some healthier choices and started running – she hasn’t looked back. She says running has changed her life and made her a better person!
Isobel has taken her 20 years of running experiences and now provides running coaching and a running podcast (see the links below).

Isobel’s Tips – If you’re a complete beginner, start with run/walk training. If you’ve done some running then it’s consistency that you need to develop. Get a consistency which will develop your base and then you can work on speed and harder sessions. Aim for “I’m a runner therefore I run consistently”. This should be enjoyable – or you won’t keep at it.
