In this episode of the FitMIND FitBODY podcast, I chat with David Theriot, an extraordinary runner with a passion for ultra-endurance events. David shares his journey from growing up in South Louisiana to becoming a dedicated runner and how running has shaped his life.
David talks about his childhood, filled with hunting, fishing, and outdoor activities, and how he found his way into running through wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Despite running initially being a punishment during his wrestling training, David eventually fell in love with the sport.
One of the highlights of David’s story is his journey to running ultra-endurance races. He shares his experience of running his first marathon in Vibram FiveFingers after recovering from an ACL reconstruction and how he gradually transitioned to trail running and ultra-marathons.
David also discusses his experience with injuries, including multiple knee surgeries, and how he managed to stay active and motivated during recovery periods. His story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the joy of pushing personal limits.
David is also the host of the podcast “Run the Riot,” where he talks about running, interviews other runners, and shares motivational stories. Additionally, he is a running coach, helping others achieve their running goals and find joy in the sport.
